Christmas day on the slopes!

Today, Christmas 2006, was an ADVENTEROUS day. The day began at 7:30 am with a wonderful breakfast of...cereal! After everyone finished eating and was fully bundled up we hit the highway and headed for Loveland ski resort. Once all the ski boots and skis were on, the slopes were greeted by the Palmers and the Bakers....and a little later on, a Clay. Jonathan, Jeremy, and our Christmas guest, Nathan took off for the more advanced slopes, while Amy patiently took her younger sister, mother, and father to the bunny hill, teaching them how "not to die while skiing" or more like "how to get to the bottom of the hill without crashing or skiing out of control". After a few runs Bethany and her mother were done for the day, having had their fix of colorado skiing. John M. Palmer, on the other hand, was feeling very confident after two runs down the bunny hill and felt ready for the bigger slopes. So, Amy, Jonathan, Jeremy, and Nathan took Dad up a 12,000 foot mountain, one which is considered to be mild. After making it 1/10th of the way down, and after falling about 4 times, Dad was done. Jonathan called for a rescue snow mobile, and Dad rode the rest of the way down the mountain with Julie the "life saver"! In the midst of it all, it was a little scary, but once everyone was safe and sound, the laughs began. The next, and last event of the day, was Gram's ski adventure. Although deciding it wasn't wise to attempt anything too large, Gram did put on her skis and test them out. She did great! It was her first time to ski in 75 years...if it weren't for the pictures I am sure nobody would believe that she actually skiied.

To top of the amazing day, Mom and Grandma prepared an outstanding meal and set a beautiful table. It was a time of great food and fellowship! What an amazing Christmas day, thank you Dad for providing this wonderful opportunity for all of us! Merry Christmas!
